  Blessed
Monday, February 16, 2015 @ 3:27 PM

I was blessed over the weekend, so I would just like to share it out over here.
Valentine's Day was on Saturday, and guess what matters more than Valentine's Day?
MY BIRTHDAY!
He he he.
(do not judge)

To be frank, I look forward to my birthday every year except for this year. It's funny though, because I always get anticipated thinking about February 14th and how am I going to spend it. This year however, I was just looking at the date thinking "Oh, it's my birthday." I don't know why I felt this way but..
Maybe I have grown out of it mhm.
Nevertheless, I was blessed with tons of lengthy birthday wishes, Instagram posts and even people who went the extra mile to make me feel special. Like this one.

Woo is just too clever with puns. She never fails to make me laugh with dem lame puns.

Didn't know I could be defined in such a way HAHAHA I appreciate you even though you may be an ass (most of the time)

...thank you for taking note of my love for pineapples but I never intended to be one.

It doesn't mean if I don't post any of your wishes here means I don't appreciate them. Thank you to everyone who took their time to write me messages.
I love how my family make it an effort to bring each and every one out for a "special" dinner on our birthdays. The one with the birthday gets to pick a dinner of his/her choice. That night, we had dinner in a Western restaurant called Agape located in Setiawalk.
You know, I really am fine with the idea of having my birthday on a Valentine's Day but it gets really annoying when it comes to getting a space for dinner. Malls, restaurants and the roads are always jam packed with people. Lucky for me, we found a parking spot in less than five minutes and we waited for a few minutes to get a seat for dinner. In fact, it was a rather good spot because it was by the balcony and we got to enjoy the view while dining. Birthday luck, I suppose?

My full-time Valentine.

The food was rather delicious. We had a pork knuckle dish, lemongrass chicken with salad and a salmon dish topped with some sort of gravy which tasted like bolognese. For desserts, we ordered a plate of hot steamed brownie with ice-cream and it was drizzled with chocolate sauce. The portion of the brownie was so small in size but it tasted really good. The hot crunchy brownie was perfectly baked and it went so well with the vanilla ice-cream and chocolate sauce. I am drooling while describing it yum..... it's definitely worth the money!

(I meant my parent's money hehe)

It was a simple dinner yet I loved it. Thank you.
Not to forget, these bunch surprised me when we were having supper the night before my birthday. Reflecting back, I felt the whole process was so funny. It was getting late that night, so my sister and I were about to leave McDonald's, when suddenly my sister excused herself to the washroom.
Okay, there was nothing suspicious going to the washroom. But she was in there for 20 minutes.
Then, I realized Keong was missing from the table for about 20 minutes as well.
When my sister came out of the washroom, I said "Let's go." But she sat down and continued talking.
It was then, Keong came out with the cake and candle. 😢
These guys are so sweet. Thank you Keong, for getting me the cake and walked out to search for a candle and lighter. Thank you sis, for putting up the show hahaha. Also, thank you to the rest who stayed and surprised me. It may not be a big surprise, but it was the heart that matter.
My birthday this year was simple yet memorable. Before I forget, I was blessed with five different slices of cakes for my birthday. First was the one above, followed by a chocolate-ish cake, then a lemon cake from mom, and two more cakes from Tai (one was green tea flavoured and the other was crème brule).
Not sure if I am just blessed or my tummy is just really blessed.
Okay, I think it is my tummy which is really blessed because Hor Ken decided to treat us for dinner at his restaurant in conjunction with Chinese New Year. We had all kinds of meat dishes: butter chicken, asam fish, beef, pork- oh lord bless my cholesterol level please. Thank God for vegetables to balance out the meat intake in my body (even so, please bless my cholesterol level).
Now, a CNY dinner is never complete without the signature dish, Yee Sang! For those who do not know what Yee Sang is, it is Chinese traditional dish which symbolizes good luck, health and all things auspicious. It is also know as the Prosperity Toss.
Before we started to toss the ingredients high in the air, we paused debating what to say. I'm not sure if it's because most of us are bananas or what but we couldn't think of what to say hahaha.
So we just started off with "Hor Ken.....!" HAHAHAHAHA.
After that, we just made noises to cover up the fact we don't know what to say HAHAH.
This dinner felt as if it was a family reunion. It seemed like we had not met each other for so long and we came to gather again for a meal. Thank you for organizing this dinner, Hor Ken. You are a blessing!
After dinner, we headed over to Ben's house for another round of CNY necessity- gambling whoop whoop. Honestly, I really do enjoy the fun of gambling during CNY but there is just something about my family that we don't gamble. Thus, I was really excited to play cards with the bunch.
We played the most common and simple game- blackjack. We are not exactly risk takers, so we just played using coins hahaha. Luck was on my side because I won four bucks hehe.
At the end of the day, what I enjoyed most wasn't about winning or losing money. It was about laughing, screaming and shouting out loud with the bunch. T'was a blessed night.

On a side note, I have created a Dayre account which I update more frequently than I do on this blog. Do follow me! dayre.me/sugardaisies
