  Bits & Pieces #3
Monday, August 18, 2014 @ 5:36 PM

Currently sitting at a table in Starbucks; sipping on my supposedly cold chamomile blend tea, but it is warm instead of cold. Maybe it is because I requested for less ice... but it should be at least a little more chill than this! Starbucks barista, Y U DO DIS TO ME?

I've ditched this blog for way too long. It's not because I was too busy (technically, my schedule was packed like asdfghjkl but I could still spare some time for blogging if I had the discipline to), but it was mostly because I lost the interest in blogging altogether and I did not have the motivation to update my blog. And it is not that I had nothing to write about; in fact, I have a lot of things to talk about but, you know what happens when you give laziness the power to take control over you.

Since I am filled with the sudden motivation to blog, I shall not put this miracle to waste! So I was blessed with a 3 weeks semester break (note the word "blessed" hehe) and it was one heck of a time. Starting off with the spontaneous road trip to Jonker Walk, Malacca. When I say spontaneous, I really meant what I said because I was told that the trip was only planned an hour before we departed. And I was not even aware of it! My friends wouldn't tell me where we were going, saying that it was a surprise. After a car ride which seemed like it took forever, I woke up to a road sign with an arrow directing to Malacca. From then, I knew where we were heading to lol.

Being able to visit Malacca again after years feels good. Aside from the Christ Church Melaka, I could hardly remember anything about this place. I love the historical vibe Malacca poses; how every corner of the streets look like it has a story to tell. Walking in this night market feels different compared to the city's. I was surprised by the distinct shops along the streets. You can literally get anything from here, ranging from food to clothes to gadgets and even lifesavers! We came across a salesman who was selling this magic glue which can put things together within the timeframe of 3 seconds. He demonstrated using a torn rubber slipper, which he glued it using the glue, and it wouldn't tear apart even when it was connected to a huge rock. It sold out pretty quickly too, given that the guy had some marketing skills. Lois bought it too since he was selling it at a super cheap price (3 for RM10, cheap or not!). But then again, Lois buys everything HAHAHA I am not even kidding. She always had something to buy at almost every stop.

I brought my monopod along, which I got from KL, and it turned out to be very useful that day.

Trying to take a group picture with the arch that says "Jonker Walk World Heritage Park" but we failed quite terribly LOL.

Dreamcatcher for only RM5! Not the best but they are still pretty.

Swag glasses yo.

Failed attempt of trying to take a picture with the Christ Church Melaka HAHAHA.

Found heaps of local snacks and desserts along the streets. Our first stop was at this restaurant which was famous for its cendol and laksa, according to Lois. I am not sure how to judge the laksa, given that it was my first time finishing a bowl of laksa hehe but the cendol was good! What makes Malacca's cendol different from the rest was that it was served in a slightly different style. Instead of brown sugar, gula Melaka was used in replacement. I thought it was really yummy!

Candid shot while Tai figures out how to use the monopod

Tail looking so happy after he figured it out HAHAHA.

My first bowl of laksa!

We also had a lot of food in between: egglette originated from Hong Kong, fried oyster, fried potato served in a very unique way (which I forgot to take a picture of), quail eggs, and durian white coffee. Yes, you got me right, durian in coffee. It may sound very odd but I promise you durian lovers out there, you need to try it haha. It has a very unique taste which some may find it weird but I like the taste of it!

Egglette featuring this adorable lady selling it.

Due to limited time we had, we left Malacca early. That reminds me, we didn't get to try the famous chicken rice ball and satay celup! Ahhh, must make sure that we do so the next round.

Also met up with quarter of the baes; Shas and Woo. It was a really short meet-up though which lasted for 2-3 hours. We spent time catching up on life, window shopping like we always do, and just enjoyed each other's company. It felt nice meeting up with them again after some time. The fact that we could still come up with random topics and laugh about them; it reminded me so much of the times we shared during high school. As much as I enjoy college life now, I still do miss being in high school at times. Good old times.

Our ootds

Shameless selfie hehe did you see that pun

Flower crowns! I've always loved flower crowns.

During the first week of the semester break, I went for another road trip with the bunch; this time we headed to Kuala Lumpur! The initial plan was to go to Malacca but due to so so so many complications, we had to call it off and changed the location to KL after a few minutes of planning. Seems like last minute road trip plans only work for us lol.

Chilled at Wilson's place before heading out.

Tai brought his PS3 over and Shen made us played some kids-themed game because according to him, it was the only game closest to girly.

Playing with Sze's monopod hehe.

With Lois! And a flower which I found laying on the ground HAHA.

And look who here we have here! Our sleeping beauty who can sleep anywhere at any time of the day.

Sorry Tai, we just had to HAHA.

Stopped by for fresh coconuts because of the hot weather. I am sure you can tell how good they are from Shen's facial expression (or maybe not)

Behind the scenes...

...and the actual picture! With filter on Snapchat.

Also, we went back to Standing Theory for their signature waffles. These waffles are the best, I kid you not. Bacon lovers out there, you would definitely favor this more because it comes with bacon strips!

After compiling up all the suggestions, we decided on Aquaria, KLCC, since none of us visited there before. Aquaria was alright; it was not very impressive I would say. Maybe it was because I don't really have any interest towards marine life. But it felt like a different experience altogether, surrounding myself with fishes and water. It was interesting getting to know the names of each fish (though I could hardly remember any by now hehe) and reading up random facts of each fish.

The only group picture we took in Aquaria.

Piranhas! They do not look scary but when it comes to eating, you wouldn't want to stay close even.

Oh look, I found Nemo hehe! (kk lame).

Cotton candy look-alike.

Shen's bestfriend (or more like his favorite prey), the stingray! Didn't know that stingrays actually look pretty creepy lol.

More Nemos and Dori!

I cannot remember what is the name of this fish but I thought it was the prettiest fish there.

Creepy worm-like fishes LOL.

Instead of going out for dinner, we headed to the nearby Tesco for grocery shopping and had our very own steamboat at Wilson's. I personally like the idea of homemade dinner (technically, we were cooking at a home) because it brings everyone together. The only problem with our dinner was that we bought way too much food thanks to the guys who could not stop adding food to the trolley. -_- We had so much leftovers that it could easily last us for another two meals.

We didn't take many pictures during dinner because everyone was starving by then and food > pictures.

Lesson learnt: Never let the guys do the grocery shopping HAHAHA.

The following day, we spent half the day swimming in the pool at Wilson's again. They chose the best time to go for swimming though, which was immediately after I came out from the shower. -_- I hesitated at first, because I was too lazy to take a shower again, but..... I gave in after much persuasion HAHA.

Shen faced sudden muscle cramps while swimming, so behold are his two servants whom voluntarily gave him massages HAHA.

We played around with the beach ball and tried playing frisbee with the kick boards but is started to become annoying because they kept going out of the pool. So we tried something new: cheerleading in the pool! Lois, Tricia and Sze started basing each other and they got us to try it. Given that I have zero experience in cheerleading, I was terrified when they made me try being a flyer. Turned out it wasn't that bad after all, even though I failed several times (once, I fell backwards onto Lois HAHA).

Success woohoo.

The guys got the chance to try it out too HAHA.

Tricia's and Sze's face = BEST

Correction: Tai still has the best facial expressions HAHAHAHA please forgive me, Tai.

The last one who left the pool even after everyone showered. He clearly loves swimming very much.

We had a lot of outings in between but I shall stop here before this post becomes too lenghty (which already is heh). My third semester resumed today and it was alright, aside from the sudden physical changes among my classmates. Many came in with new hairstyles; either having their hair dyed, curled or even shaved LOL. Judging by the subjects I have, this semester looks like it is going to be a tough one. I am really liking my Business Studies lecturer so far, even though it may be too early to judge but she is so adorable. Looking forward to what Semester 3 has to offer!
