  Every Valentine's
Sunday, February 16, 2014 @ 4:43 PM

My birthday happens to fall on Valentine's Day. Over the years, I’ve learned that people loved the idea of a Valentine’s Day birthday. My friends or even strangers tend to get quite excited when they read or hear me say “February 14.”  Though I’ve only ever known a Valentine’s Day birthday, I have to say that I’ve always loved it too. Valentine’s Day is a small enough holiday that I’ve never felt like it overshadowed my birthday, but it’s also a bit of a controversial holiday.

The most notable thing about a February 14th birthday is that people tend to remember it. I’ve had friends of friends randomly remember my birthday, and what more do you want on your birthday than well wishes from friends? I feel really lucky in that department. I’ve also never had a chance to hate Valentine’s Day, and I spent plenty of Valentine’s Days without a valentine. No matter my single status, I always had plans on this, and I like to think that those birthday plans were a fun distraction from feeling forever alone and not having a partner to celebrate with.

On the downside of Valentine’s Day birthdays is getting a dinner reservation. This one really sucks. Searching for a place to have dinner is hard because restaurants tend to get too crowded with couples spending Valentine’s Day. This keeps Valentine’s Day birthday plans from being too spontaneous which is sad.

My friends always tell me how lucky would my future boyfriend be for having me. He would get to save some pocket money on gifts and only has to spend one meal on me. Sadly, this statement is quite true but note to future boyfriend: Please don't be such a cheapo lah okay!!!

Opinions aside, my birthday was well spent. Wishes came flooding in when the clock struck 12a.m. and I received a number of lenghty messages. I got to admit I love reading long messages because it simply means that people actually put effort in writing for you. But then again, I appreciate every birthday wishes regardless of the length.

Birthday ootd.
Because it was a Friday, I had to go to college in the morning. For those of you who didn't know I have started college, well now you do! My classmates sang me a birthday song and even got me a water bottle from Starbucks. T__T I did not expect any gifts from my classmates at all because we only knew each other for a month. Thank you guys, that was such a thoughtful act.

My classmates got excited with taking pictures too so.

After my classes ended, I headed to Meeples together with Suhaasan and Alexandra, a new friend I made in college. Meeples is a European boardgames cafe where each person pays an hourly fee of RM6, and the group can play any board games of any choice, changing as many games as they like. We asked the staff to recommend us a reactionary game and we ended up with two games which names I cannot remember. Alex and I loved the reactionary games because poor Suhaasan kept losing hahaha.

Later, we met up with Woo and Hedy at Sunway Pyramid for lunch. We had lunch at a restaurant known as Delicious but the Eggs Benedict dish I ordered did not taste as good as the name suggests. But then again, I do not really know how an Eggs Benedict dish should taste but to me it was just a combination of egg bread and ham. Suhaasan's fish and chips tasted pretty good though.

Spent the rest of the afternoon chilling at the restaurant and walked around the mall. Thank you for the great company guys.

Pre-birthday gift from Woo. She made me take a picture with her gift in front of the shop lol.

I never really liked macarons but the ones from TWG taste so good!

After Wee, Suhaasan and Woo left, I made a spontaneous visit to Sunway University's Music Club because I had nothing to do while waiting for Ben to pick me up. I was afraid that the members would kick me out lololol because Hedy smartly introduced me as a non-Sunway student. -__- Luckily, they were cool about it and they even sang me a birthday song when they barely knew me at all. It was nice of them. T__T

Ben came to pick me up and we had our usual friday night meeting at church. In the midst of munching on my yummy grilled chicken from Nandos, Hans rushed into the Visitor's Lounge saying that Samuel fell and was badly hurt. We rushed out of the room to look for Samuel to find Nathaneal holding three tiny cakes with birthday candles on them. So it was all just a prank to surprise me hahaha T__T

And that night I received the third birthday song for the day lololol.

With the boy who placed his leg into the drain as part of the prank hahaha.

I just want to thank everyone who wished me, who sang me birthday songs, who prepared gifts for me, who planned a surprise for me, who spent time with me, who take pictures with me- I appreciate every single one of them. Thank you for making my day!
